Ventura founded the Chega Party in 2019, promoting tougher penalties for criminals, including chemical castration for serial rapists, demanding that Portugal’s “open doors” into migration policy and accuse the dominant politicians.
Chega emerged in the third largest parliamentary force in 2022 and quadrupled its seats in an election last year at 50 after campaigning against corruption and immigration. But most analysts say that the party owes its success in passionate euphoria, his charismatic personality and the beautiful appearance of the Ventura.
