Pope Leo: His first prayer in the Vatican – “End the war, never again”

THE Pope 14th performed on Sunday morning on the first Sunday and prayer on St. Peter’s Square, in front of a crowd of people gathered in the Vatican to see the new Pontiff.

“Finally the war, never again,” was Pope Leo’s message with crowds in the Vatican applauding and shouting “Long live the Pope”. “I carry in my heart the suffering of the beloved Ukrainian people,” said Pope Leo the 14th in the Church of Regina Caeli.

“Let’s do everything possible to achieve a genuine, fair and lasting peace as soon as possible,” he noted. “Let all prisoners be released and let the children be able to return to their families,” he continued.

“I am filled with pain what is happening in Gaza. You stopped fire immediately. Let humanitarian aid be provided to the exhausted civilian population and let all hostage be released, “he added

“In today’s dramatic scenario of a third World War that is being fought in part, as Pope Francis said, I also address the great men of the world with an always timely appeal: never war again,” he added.

He also stressed that the news of the ceasefire in India’s conflict with Pakistan is positive and that he wishes, through the forthcoming negotiations, that there will be a permanent agreement.

Pope Leo’s enthronement ceremony will take place on May 18, where leaders from all over the world are expected to come.
