Double pneumonia and admission to the hospital

On February 14, Pontiff was admitted to the hospital for the treatment of bronchitis. A few days later, doctors announced that it was suffering from double pneumonia and needed blood transfusions, as tests showed low platelet levels, a condition associated with anemia.

The Pope remained hospitalized by the end of March 23, with doctors describing his condition as “complex”. On March 6th, his voice was heard for the first time after his introduction, in a sound message where he thanked those who prayed for him and added: “I am with you here.”
