Polynesian Emmanouilidou thus gave our country its first medal in the event and the 34o in its history. In fact, she became the third Greek woman who climbs to the podium of the winners in the 100m, after Kokloni and Karastamatis, who is the holder of the record.
The top Greek sprinter made a poor start, but after 60m, she turned around and managed to cover the difference and get into the medals.
The gold medal was won by Carolina Manassova (Czech Republic) with 11.30, making the mini surprise, while Nia Wenderbun Gudison (Britain) finished second with 11.38.
