The political system is reaching boiling point in anticipation of one, two or even three new party bodies: preliminary readings from polling companies show that if Alexis Tsipras and the Antonis Samaras as well as Maria Karystianou proceed to the creation of new forms, then there will be a collapse of the current correlations in the space of the opposition, right and left.
Several polling companies are measuring – without making the results public – all the possibilities and the numbers are more or less the same: in the event that all three proceed to found new parties, then all the current opposition parties will collapse in opinion polls, without at the same time emptying the pool of undecideds, to which the New Republic.
The ruling party also has a cost – in the possibility of creating three new formations – without, however, disputing its significant lead: the N.D. loses up to two points in voting intention – and self-reliance slips even further – but the distance from the runner-up remains over 12 points.
He passes Tsipras
In the scenario of the three new parties, the second place after N.D. occupies the “Karystianou party”, despite the fact that already some of their relatives victims of Tempe they react to such a possibility, in fact in view of it of the start of the trial for the tragedy of February 28, 2023.
It is noted that despite the fact that people like Nikos Karachalios they tried to speak on her behalf announcing the establishment of a party, they were denied by her, which leaves all possibilities open, but cuts the relevant expectations. It goes without saying that such a political body could only make its appearance at the start of the pre-election period…
In any case, a company that systematically measures the “Karystianou party” recorded a drop in voting intention of more than three points in three months, although the initial figure was more than 17%.
In the event of the establishment of a party by both Alexis Tsipras and the burned-out mother of Tembe, the former president of SYRIZA loses close to 4 points and falls to fourth place, the Freedom Sailingo SYRIZAh New Left and the Day25while the parties to the right of the N.D. also have great costs.
PASOK is “burning”.
However, the biggest problem in such a scenario has the PASOKalthough -comparatively- shows the lowest losses, as it loses second place and returns to single-digit percentages in voting intention.
In this context, what he said can be explained Nikos Androulakis speaking behind closed doors to the executives of the PASOK self-governing faction, on the sidelines of the KEDE conference, in Alexandroupolis: he said that the party must either be first or be close to the ND. in the next elections, otherwise, as he added, extreme voices will prevail in the opposition and the ruling party will be able to impose “Mitsotakis or chaos” in the second date with the polls.
The Tsipras influence
At the moment, only Alexis Tsipras has actually opened his cards, predisposing the parties and public opinion for his return with a new political entity. In the event that he will not have a “Karystianou party” against him, the “Tsipras party” is recorded in the preliminary measurements in second place, with a difference of more than 2.5 points compared to PASOK, but at a great distance from the New Democracy.
It should be noted that in the case of Tsipras, the second place counts less in relation to the distance from the New Democracy, as the potential vote is given to him with the expectation that due to the fragmentation of the center-left and left-wing opposition, only the former prime minister could be the rival awe for the Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
If this is disproved by the polls, there is likely to be early disillusionment, especially beyond his core supporters, who are found in varying but significant percentages in SYRIZAat New Leftin Day25in Freedom Sailingeven in KKEbut also in PASOK and her Greek solution.
However, it should be noted that the measurements of Tsipras’s influence on the electorate have started since the beginning of last summer, with his percentages going down, despite the fact that due to the upcoming publication of his book he is constantly in the news.
The Samara interview
“So I weigh the whole situation very carefully. I watch everything. What is happening inside and outside the country. I will judge calmly. And when I make my decisions, whatever they are, either way, I will explain them clearly and thoroughly to the only constant ally of my course, for almost 50 years: the Greek people.” With that sentence he closed the…benhouric interview lasting 1 hour and 50 minutes the former prime minister Antonis Samaras left Kyriaki everything open for the prospect of creating a new party.
By the time he reached this final report, he had launched a scathing indictment of the whole matter against Megarus Maximus and Kyriakou Mitsotakis on staff, about whom he spoke in very heavy words. Especially with the references to “regime”, but also to de-ideologicalization of the ND and its transformation into a Semitic hybrid.
From the economy and her foreign policyto the manipulations for the OKAY and the TempeMr. Samaras opened fire directly against Mr. Mitsotakis, showing in practice that he had and is not in any mood for “sasmos”. He claimed that he has no ginati, but that he was deleted, he did not leave. And he emphasized that the government is insincere when it makes an “opening” towards him, as this is not accompanied by recognition of political mistakes, especially in national matters.
The decisions
As stated in protothema.gr a man who converses with Mr. Samaras on a daily basis, the former prime minister positioned himself after all not as a “former”, but with an eye on the future. In general, he deconstructed Mr. Mitsotakis’ manipulations with the argument – below the lines – that with him at the helm, things would be different.
Mr. Samaras, after all, has the argument that the positions he expressed and for which he says he was slandered, are now the majority. Of course, the fact that interview had been taped since October 31 may have rendered some of his remarks out of date, esp regarding Greece’s relations with the USA, in light of the PTEC conference held in Zappeion.
The question, however, is whether and when the former prime minister will push the button for a new party. He “ferments” in the background, talks with its executives New Republic and not only that, but he still does not take the decisive step. However, he maintains the public debate, as while he does so his interventions are heard much more.
Mr. Samaras, of course, is politically experienced and understands that the creation of a new party is not an easy exercise, nor is the success of an undertaking guaranteed. And the assessments of people who are in contact with him or have known him for a long time are divided.
Many believe that he has made his decisions in his mind and will simply choose the right timing to announce them, others believe that he is using his rhetoric as a lever to pressure and wear down governmenthoping for other moves, possibly also within the ND. It is also a given that Mr. Samaras wants to “read” the entire chessboard.
However, the measurements show low flights for a “Samara party”, as it does not seem to have much appeal to today’s New Democracy voters. However, the fact that the “grey zone” includes a significant portion of center-right and right-wing voters may weigh on his final decisions.
