Disruption caused to Port of Piraeus when cruiser hit the pier during the binding process.
As a result of the cruise ship impact- with 450 passengers- in the port of Piraeus, a ten-meter-long rift was created on the ship’s hull.
The accident occurred on Friday morning (05.09.2025), when the Port Authority of Tzelepi was informed. The flag of the Bahamas flag was hit on the port pier, while its binding process was ongoing at the Alkimos passenger station.
No injuries reported the incident and no marine pollution was observed, while 450 cruise ship passengers landed safely, according to the Port Authority.

In the early hours of today, the Tzelepi Port Authority was informed that a cruise ship (K/Z) of the Bahamas was hit during its binding process at the Alkimos Passenger Station in the port of Piraeus. The result of the impact was the causes of a ten (10) meters and width of one meter, while the incident was not reported and no marine pollution was reported.
The 450 passengers of the K/Z were safely disembarked at the cruise terminal. From the 1st Piraeus Port Authority of the Piraeus Central Port Authority, the ship was banned, until the damage was restored and the presentation of a certificate from the recognized organization that monitors it.
