In today’s interview (9.9.25) at Star Minister of Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis He referred extensively to the strategic importance that the government attaches to the Greek region.
Specifically, Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis stressed that “the region is at the core of government strategy”, stressing that its strengthening is a critical factor in addressing the demographic issue.
Kyriakos Pierrakakis noted that the government is moving into specific incentives in this direction, with a typical example being the abolition of ENFIA in two years in 12,700 settlements up to 1,500 inhabitants.
At the same time, he highlighted the overall package of measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition, noting that these measures “are a step in the right direction”. As he said, demographic is an existential issue of national gravity, which cannot be dealt with only by a tax reform.
The minister also underlined that the government has already abolished 80 taxes, proceeding with a steady weight relief course for citizens without risking fiscal stability.
Referring to the new tax reform, Kyriakos Pierrakakis explained that “it concerns all – civil servants, private employees, freelancers and farmers”. Employees will see increases in their salaries from January 1, 2026, while freelancers will benefit from 2027 with tax clearances.
“There is no better measure to support families, young people, old men than to support them directly,” the minister said, adding that all citizens will see tangible results “in their accounts and in their tax returns”.
