Today (29.4.2025) in the morning the Minister of Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakissigns Greece’s request to activate the escape clause from defensive costsas he announced speaking to ERT.
Kyriakos Pierrakakis said that from this particular opportunity to exemplify defense spending Greece will save a total of 600m euros in budgetary space which it will be able to spend on benefits, with emphasis on tax cuts and weights to the middle class.
EUR 600 million relates to EUR 500 million planned expenditure from the 2026 budget and another 100 million euros this year.
