“The law allows justice officials to order the cremation of bodies whose transport, burial or burial may endanger security and public order,” the bill said.
Avalos tweeted that if the bill is passed, it could be applied to the Abimael Guzman case.
Who was Abimael Guzman?
Nicknamed the “Pol Pot of the Andes” because of the cruelty of his movement, Abimael Guzman died on Saturday at the age of 86 in prison where he was serving a life sentence after two convictions in 2006 and 2018.
The former philosophy professor and Elena Iparagire were arrested in 1992 and married in 2010 in prison.
Guzman is believed to be responsible for one of the bloodiest conflicts in Latin America, which shook Peru between 1980 and 2000 and left more than 70,000 dead and missing, according to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
