Patras – Pyrgos: At noon the new motorway – 2 hours and 45 minutes the route from Athens

In… the Highway is over today the highway passes today. Patras – Pyrgosas the new one is given to circulation highway that will unite Patras with the Pyrgos and by extension Athens with Pyrgos. Once the Athens – Pyrgos route will be delivered in the last 10km in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Yesterday Thursday (31.7.2025) Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis opened the new motorway and today will be released 65 km from the 74.8 km of the overall project and specifically the section from Pyrgos to Alissos, near Patras.

The remaining 10 kilometers to Midilogli will be completed and delivered to the end by the end of November, based on the timetable.

Through the Olympia Road, the Patras – Pyrgos route will be covered in just 45 minutes, while the trip from Athens to Pyrgos will take about 2 hours and 45 minutes, safely and comfortable.

“The Patras – Pyrgos Motorway is a national scope project,” said Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas during the inauguration ceremony of the Patras – Pyrgos Motorway, at the Pyrgos – Alissos Department, which took place today, Nikos Tahaios and the Secretary General of Infrastructure Dimitris Anagnopoulos.

The overall project concerns the construction of the 74.8 km Patras – Tower, with widening the existing National Road (NEW) in the first 13 kilometers, while about 62 kilometers was built in new engraving. It is a high -end highway, with a separated road and controlled access to its entire length, with 9 knots and aiming to strengthen the road safety level and smooth traffic flow. The motorway consists of 2 strips of 3.50m wide. and an emergency lane (LEA) per direction, separated by a medium -sized concrete safety parapet.

Supplementary works

In the process of executing the proceedings of the concession contract, additional operations were approved and funded, with the aim of enhancing the functionality of the project and taking into account the proposals of the Municipalities, the Region, the Local Communities. These tasks include:

  • Asphalting of the side road network as a whole and expanded to neighboring local areas.
  • Construction of a new branch in Amaliada A/C for connection to the regional as well as the construction of upper crossing.
  • Construction of the PC Alice.
  • Upgrading existing roads: i) Kyllini A/C connectors with the existing Patras-Pyrgos, ii) Connecting Road from Gastounis A/C with the existing Patras-Pyrgos and iii) of the Street from Araxos Airport to Settlement.
  • Study and construction of flood protection projects in 14 areas of the motorway.

The project budget was EUR 295 million and together with the additional operations, the total expense amounted to EUR 385 million. The project was co -funded by the NSRF with € 143 million.

It is recalled that the project was reintegrated on the highway Olympia Odos in 2021 and in March 2022 the new construction contract was signed.
