The Plenary of the Parliament decided with vast majority her waiver of immunity of the president of Freedom of Navigation, Zois Konstantopoulou. In the roll call vote held, 238 MPs out of the 284 who participated voted “yes”, while 46 were against.
Instead, the Parliament decided to do not waive immunity of the member of the KKE, Lianas Kanellis. The specific request had come to the Plenary after complaint which had been submitted by Mrs Konstantopoulou. In the relevant vote, 209 MPs said “no” on withdrawal, 25 said “yes” and 50 declared “present”. Before the vote there had been an intense confrontation between the two women.
Tension with Gerovasilis
After the announcement of the result, Mrs. Konstantopoulou wanted to take the floor, coming to conflict with the vice-president of the Parliament, Olga Gerovasiliwho asked her to wait as another speaker took the lead.
- Z. Konstantopoulou: “Aren’t you ashamed? You are in collusion with Mrs. Bakoyannis”.
- O. Gerovasilis: “I will not answer you. My position doesn’t allow me to do that.”
- Z. Konstantopoulou: “Resign…”
- O. Gerovasilis: “You have resigned from parties.”
- Z. Konstantopoulou: “It is crutch Mrs. Gerovasili”.
When the president of Freedom of Navigation finally took the floor, she spoke of “unholy alliances, Dores and Siemens and lobes».
