Papastavrou: The new PD for settlements restores urban assertion

The priorities of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (RIS) were presented today (5.5.2025) by the Minister responsible for Stavros Papastavrou In an interview with Parapolitika, emphasizing PD for the delimitation of settlement.

Concerning the remote areas of the settlements, which are their extreme boundaries, the Minister pointed out that special legislation is being examined in the spirit of the CoE decision, for those of them there is real and geographical proximity. “In principle, the regulation will face these areas more favorable than off -plan areas, but not in the same way it treats them in the plan,” he said.

Answering a question about the geostrategic significance of American Chevron’s interest in hydrocarbon exploration in maritime areas of the Peloponnese and Crete, but also for the relevant competition that is starting immediately, the Minister of Environment and Energy said that ” Our diplomatic positions, “he said.

Mr. Papastavrou also made a special mention on the issue of water scarcity, which he described as pan -European. “The awareness of all of us on the subject of water management must enter the public dialogue. There are no easy solutions, all of us are coordinated, “he said, stressing that in collaboration with EYDAP, the Ministry of Environment and Energy is planning a number of measures, including informative public awareness campaigns to rational use of this valuable good.
