“We won a battle.” This is the phrase that says and again says Panos Routsiwho did a hunger strike for 23 days in order to accept his demands for the exhumation of Denis’s son – victim of tragedy in the Tempi – which eventually got the “green light” Tuesday (07.10.2025).
Panos Routsi, at risk of his own life, was in nearly 1 month at Syntagma Square, asking to be done exhumation his 22 -year -old son killed in Tempi in 2023 and identifying DNA in the corpse as well as toxicological tests. The first part of the request was accepted a few days ago, but the cheerful father “continued his fight” as he said, to “accept his self -evident request from the prosecutor’s Office”.
On Tuesday night, the Rucci family was informed that the request of the toxicology was also accepted and Panos Routsi called the citizens to a new rally held this afternoon in the heart of Athens.
After thanking all those who supported him, Panos Routsi noted that his fight would continue. He even thanked the doctors who were next to him and invited the world at a rally at 18:30 in the Constitution “to be happy”, as he said, this big victory.
“The hunger strike is stopping today. To thank the whole world who were with me these 23 days, with the support and this love they gave me. We continue to the end, “he said.
Crowds of people rushed to the Constitution with banners, placards and photos of the wrongdoer Dennis Rucci, shouting “Panos Routsi made the way”.
In statements he made from Syntagma Square, he emphasized: “Today is a day of joy, victory. We won a battle, but there is a fight that continues and we will continue to the end. We don’t stop there. I want to thank the whole world for supporting me, all the friends I have acquired, a huge family, all over Greece and not only, we continue to the end. “

Postponed his son’s exhumation
It is recalled that ELAS announced earlier the postponement of the 22 -year -old Dennis’s bailout for tomorrow’s exhumationin order to designate a technical adviser by the Ruchi family.
“Tomorrow’s exhumation process was postponed. We have appointed our own consultants, we will consult when they come from abroad and a new date will be announced. We don’t trust anything in Greece, we wanted to be from abroad from the first moment of the process. We want it to be our own, to do it properly and as the law defines the process, “Panos Routsi said in his statements.
“The samples will also be sent abroad. I do not know when the process will take place, I guess we will learn in 2 days. Yesterday it was a big victory, we won a battle but we have a long way. We do not know what the government will think of doing to us.
Let’s go slowly because we’ve seen a lot of these two and a half years. For 23 days I have been experiencing this situation in front of their door. I did not imagine that this government was not conscious and humanity to find out what my child died, that is, the obvious. They were forced to accept my demands after so many days, “he said.
