THE Panathinaikos issued a statement that informs the team’s fans who will travel to Abu Dhabi for the Final Four of Euroleague on the United Arab Emirates security measures.
Panathinaikos will have several fans on his side, who will have to follow strict instructions issued by the team, as the Final Four of Abu Dhabi is this data with the most particularities, compared to the previous ones.
The exact number of Panathinaikos fans who will attend the United Arab Emirates will not be known, but data will dominate the Etihad Arena stands, as well as Olympiacos’ friends.
Panathinaikos’ announcement
OEM Panathinaikos Aktor informs the team’s friends who will travel to Abu Dhabi for the Final Four that security measures, such as promoted by the Greek Foreign Ministry, the Euroleague Basketball and the United Arab Emirates, will be very strict.
Abu Dhabi is particularly sensitive to local traditions and principles, so those who travel to the Final Four should showcase delayed behavior, observing local laws and habits.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an official briefing on those who travel to Abu Dhabi, citing – among other things – some examples of behavior that may lead to arrest or imprisonment. Indicative:
- The video recording or photography of people without their consent
- The insult (even during telephone call) or inappropriate gestures
- Photographing public buildings, military installations, police departments, police bodies, as this action will be considered a breach of state security
- Drone overruns in areas not allowed
- Content (text, photo) posting on the internet that criticizes authorities and residents
- Driving under the influence of alcohol and the use of drugs, which is punishable by imprisonment of up to ten (10) years and imposing a fine of up to € 50,000.
Concerning clothing, there is tolerance to western culture, but in public services and in places of worship, such as the large mosque “Sheikh Zayed” which is a tourist attraction, costume restrictions are applied.
Due to the Islamic religion, the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places is prohibited. However, hotels and some restaurants are allowed.
Further, the Etihad Arena is prohibited: flags, sparklers, lasers, drums, duduks, food and drinks, as well as smoking (including electronic cigarettes). Those who are smoking will be driven off the field.
At the same time, we have to point out that anything that can be considered disrespectful or offensive to the local religion and culture can bring strict penalties by Abu Dhabi police. The same applies to any case of any private or public property wear (as sticker could be considered as the use of painting spray in buildings, columns, etc.)
For this reason, all Panathinaikos Aktor friends are kindly requested to be particularly careful both inside and outside the Etihad Arena, during the Final Four clashes as any abusive behavior can also cause sanctions against our team.
