More than 3,000 violations were confirmed from August 11 to 17 Greek police for “zero tolerance for non -use of helmet”.
According to the Hellenic Police, 27,873 inspections were carried out during the sixth week of action (11/8/2025 – 17/08/2025), in which 2,613 drivers were confirmed (80 of which of distribution services), as well as 413 violations of passengers.
It is noted that among the violations, 2,382 were two -wheeled drivers (of which 72 distributors), 389 two -wheeled passengers, 155 drivers of EPI (light personal electric vehicles) and 75 ATV vehicles (“pigs”).
In detail, per region, the following offenses were confirmed:
– 842 in Attica,
– 382 in Central Greece,
– 264 in the southern Aegean,
– 248 in the Ionian Islands,
– 242 in Crete,
– 234 in Western Greece,
– 217 in Thessaloniki,
– 137 in the Peloponnese,
– 134 in Central Macedonia,
– 102 in Thessaly,
– 86 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,
– 78 in the North Aegean,
– 52 in Epirus and
– 8 In Western Macedonia
At the same time, ELAS recalls that with the introduction of the new Road Traffic Code (Law 5209/2025), the State gives a clear message of zero tolerance to non -use of helmet, through the tightening of penalties, as follows:
– EUR 350 fine and deduction of driving license for 30 days for the bicycle driver (the same penalties apply to the driver who does not ensure passenger safety).
– EUR 350 a fine for the bicycle passenger.
– 30 euro fine for the OPIO driver.
The campaign, according to ELAS, is not aimed at imposing sanctions, but to change the perception of drivers and passengers on the mandatory use of certified helmet as an elementary measure of life protection.
“The Greek Police will continue to be on the streets daily, with a strong presence and consistency, in order to ensure the universal application of compulsory helmet use and to establish a more responsible driving behavior.
The helmet is not just accessories, it is a responsibility that saves lives, “he said in a statement.
