OPEKEPE: Four people were remanded in custody – A couple from Ioannina is in custody

A second pre-trial detention was decided as part of the investigation into the large illegal ring subsidies from the OKAY.

With the agreement of the investigator and the prosecutor, a 53-year-old woman, who is alleged to be a member of the criminal organization involved in the OPEKEPE circuit for illegal subsidies, was remanded in custody.

The woman, according to the data in the case file, stated that her main activity was trade. Her two daughters were also arrested with her, who apologized and were released with restrictive conditions.

It is recalled that with the agreement of the Greek European investigator and the competent prosecutor, it was decided to temporarily detain the first defendant who is alleged to be a member of the criminal organization.

The first defendant had many monetary transactions to and from the bank accounts of the alleged ringleader, with whom he is also related by family.

The second day of apologies for the case of illegal subsidies by OPEKEPE has also been completed. In total, of the 12 defendants who were acquitted today, four were remanded in custody.

The last two to be pardoned are a couple from Ioannina who are alleged to be active members of the criminal organization and who have been temporarily detained.

They are credited with falsely declaring large tracts of land as grazing land and large numbers of sheep and goats.

Another 20 defendants who have pleaded guilty have been released on parole.
