The political heatwave that prevailed in Parliament yesterday during the debate on setting up an OPEKEPE scandal was almost … literally, as the tones were particularly uploaded between Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Nikos Androulakis, while the discussion was also marked by the Holy Sepulcher. After all, at a meeting held at the ND offices in Parliament on Monday and the party’s strategy was put on the “hot” parliamentary two days there was no discussion of today’s vote, which was given by the present as an indirect confirmation of the “retirement”.
Voridis and Avgenaki placements
After a long period of silence, which was interrupted by everyone for a television interview, the answers will be given by the two former ND ministers for the charges they are attributed to. Mr Voridis, reportedly, will legally degrade the rationale for pre -trial proposals, considering that there is no substantive evidence to justify his referral. He will point out that the case file does not include any of his own conversations, nor does he come to his immediate knowledge of “red” VAT, but “blocked”, based on the deposition of former OPEKEPE commander Gregory Varra. With this reasoning he will welcome the proposal to set up an examination committee that was voted in for last night and will assess that opposition moves obviously have political incitement. In turn, Mr Avgenakis will point out that the case file was forwarded by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office without indictment and criminal evaluation, as a formal application of its competence. He will provide answers to the resignation of former Commander Vangelis Simandrakos, saying that he made problematic payments both in 2022 and June and October 2023, when he was now in charge of the Ministry of Rural Development. As for the complaints of Simandrakos about the famous “Red VAT”, it is expected to emphasize that it was informed in more detail in March 2024 by the new OPEKEPE Governor Kyriakos Babasidis, a month later received information on the actions taken on May 21, a few weeks ago, the 730 reference to the prosecutor’s office.
