The first “eternal” derby of the season was painted red! THE Olympic returned from -12 and won the Panathinaic With 90-86 in the SEF, for the 2nd GBL match.
Olympiacos and Panathinaikos did not stay in their significant absences and fought a huge fight to the SEF, with Sasa Vezenkov proving to be a catalytic and giving the home side the GBL derby.
A result that brings Olympiacos better for the advantage of the championship in view of the playoffs. Ergkin Ataman saw the amazing tonight what Jay Shorts and Vasilis Toliopoulos to send the “greens” to +12 to the end of the second period, with the Piraeus reacting in the second half and with Vezenkov and Milutinov.
The top of the winners was Sasa Vezenkov with 22 points and 6 rebounds, with Tyler Dorsey (16p, 8am), Nikola Milutinov (12p, 5p) and Tyson Ward (12p, 5p, 5th) to offer valuable help.
For the guests, what Jay Shorts made his best game with the “Greens” (19 BC with 9/15 on the field, 5 rebounds, 5 assists), with Vassilis Toliopoulos scoring 14 points in the 2nd quarter and then staying … invisible. It was given by Huanzo Ernngometh (13p, 9p), while Kostas Sloukas (10p, 4s) and Dinos Mitoglou (10p, 5p) fought it.
Now, the two teams are turning their attention to the new “devil week” in Euroleague, with the “clover” having Villerban (inside) and Anadolu Efes (outside) and the “reds” in order of Anadolu Efes (inside) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (outside).
The unfortunate red -white region and the “glow” of shorts
The two teams fought with several absences in the SEF. Thomas Wokap, China Evans, Sakil McCill, Evan Fournier stayed on the… edge of the Piraeus TSN, while Centrian Nan, Marius Grigonis, Matthias Lesor watched his first 20th derby.
Having a lot of absences in the district, Olympiacos saw Nilinina, Dorsey and Word being misplaced by the region in the first quarter (1/10) but got 7 points from Milutinov. On the other hand, Panathinaikos saw the shorts go to one against one, against the home side of the home side and having some hasty offensive decisions.
Olympiacos scored points when he decided to score from the “painter”, but not only could he not make a difference, but was found to lose at the end of the season, with the shorts leading the scoring and having the assist in the nail of Erngometh for 18-21.
Toliopoulos put his “signature” in the second quarter
Olympiacos entered the second period with 2 consecutive three -pointers. Defensively, however, George Bardzokas had great complaints from his players, mainly in the region. There, Vassilis Toliopoulos had a “party”. The Greek guard spent this time in the derby and helped the “clover” make a 0-11 series and reach the difference to +12.
Vassilis Toliopoulos reached 14 points with 4/5 three -pointers in more than 7 minutes. George Bardzokas had to bring back to the Vezenkov and Milutinov derby in order for Olympiacos to stop the mistakes and find points again. The Bulgarian International’s Buzzer Beater three-pointer (his first in the match) made the 43-48 of the half, with the leader of Piraeus reaching 12 points.
In the first 20 minutes, Panathinaikos got 23 points from his bench, while Olympiacos is just 14!
Milutinov and Word brought the red -white reaction – Vezenkov took over and Toliopoulos “turned off”
Dorsey continued to be negative, but Milutinov and Ward entered the 3rd perlode and brought the match to Pontus (52-53), with the second reaching 12 points and following the Serbian center in scoring. Panathinaikos did not find the protagonists (shorts and Toliopoulos … mute), did not get well in the repetition and the match reached 53-53, but a quick series of Osman gave him a lead again. The match went … a basket – a basket and the defenses went “walk”. Vesenov showed that he has taken up for the good, reached 20 points and with his own basket gave Piraeus the lead in the 3rd period finale (68-67). Panathinaikos had 1/6 three -pointers in the 3rd quarter.
Olympiacos withstood the pressure of Panathinaikos
Olympiacos showed that he has taken forward and until the middle of the 4th period kept a difference of points, with a distinctive ease and Dorsey aggressively supporting the team. But the “gap” was not great. Ergkin Ataman went to the match three guards (shorts, Sloukas and Grand) and made Panathinaikos more competitive, but had a theme in the “painter”, with Holmes not helping.
The shorts kept Panathinaikos “breathing”, Slouka’s shots brought him to -1 and Holmes’ basket gave him a lead (80-81). The derby finale was reminiscent of a thriller. Olympiacos took a lead again, but Sloukas scored a huge three-point lead for 84-84.
Milutinov had a series of points in the finale, while Nillina brought +4 for the home side. The Panathinaikos leader scored again at 15.2 ″ for 88-86, but Dorsey’s shots formed 90-86 and the red-white dominance.
