THE Olympic issued a statement through which he published the letter he has sent to Euroleagueon the topic of the Final Four of 2026.
Referring to untrue and misleading publications “… that bring Olympiakos to oppose the Athens Final Four 2026”, the Piraeus quotes the specific letter they sent to the Euroleague CEO, Paulius Moiyenouna.
As he says, Olympiacos wants transparency and calls for “details and clarifications on issues in the management of the Final Four 2026 nominations that raise reasonable questions”.
The announcement …
“In response to untruthful and misleading publications that bring the OLYMPIC CEO to oppose the Athens Final Four 2026 at EuroLeague, we declare the following:
OEM OLYMPIC has been, is and will be non -negotiable at its beginning. Transparency is one of them.
For this reason and in view of the Board of Directors. of the 10/9 Euroleague we sent a letter to the Euroleague CEO Mr Motejunas on 3/9, with notification to EuroLeague President Mr Bodiroga and the members of the Board of Directors, asking for details and clarifications on issues in the management of applications for the Final Four 2026 that raises reasonable questions.
Unfortunately, as is the case, some choose to distort reality as it serves them, to throw even more water into the toxicity grinder they have maintained for many years.
In order to restore the truth, we publish the letter of OLYMPIC to the Euroleague CEO, which is as follows:
‘Dear Paulius,
Subject: Final Four 2026
In view of the Board of Directors of the Board of Directors On 10.09.2025 and following the information disclosed to the teams at the meeting on 23.07.2025, for full transparency reasons and in order for the teams to have a complete picture before making a decision on the Final Four of 2026, we would appreciate the answers to the following questions:
1. Why was EuroLeague deemed necessary to delegate a mediator to approach the Greek government in order to secure an offer for the Final Four of Athens 2026? Is it common for Euroleague to use such mediators for the nominations of the Final Four?
2. What criteria did Kingbet Media choose as an appropriate and responsible body to mediate between Euroleague and the Greek Government? According to its website, Kingbet Media has been active for 17 years in the iGaming production sectors and sports betting content and is the manager of the Kingbet.net betting website. There is no reference to the possible involvement of the company as a mediator for sponsorships or events for which it was hired by Euroleague.
3. Kingbet Media approached Euroleague by offering its services or did Euroleague seek its involvement? It should be noted that in their public statements on Athens’ candidacy for Final Four 2026, members of the Greek government and other public officials never mentioned the existence of a third party in the process of nomination.
4. Did Kingbet Media submitted by Euroleague in a proper diligence process (“Due Diligence”), – among other things – regarding its integrity, reputation, trading past and operational capabilities to provide the services it promised?
5. Was the contract signed between Kingbet Media and Euroleague? If so please send us a copy.
6. What services did Kingbet Media offer to Euroleague about the Greek government’s bid for the Final Four 2026?
7. The amount of 400,000 euros for Kingbet Media services is rather excessive and absurd based on market data. Please explain.
8. Please send us copies of the contracts signed by Euroleague with Kingbet Media and PPC (Public Electricity Company) on the sponsorship of the latter.
9. Please send us copies of all contracts signed for the sponsorship of the Final Four in Abu Dhabi.
10. Please provide us with detailed information of the estimated revenue and expenses that are linked to both Belgrade and Athens nomination to make a more accurate comparison of the amounts presented. Please clarify whether Athens costs include a remuneration for the use of the OAKA Stadium.
11. Is it true that the executive director of the Euroleague Head Coaches Board, Mr. Goran Sasic, is involved in promoting Athens’ candidacy for the Final Four 2026, contacting groups to discuss their concerns and reservations about Athens nomination?
12. If yes:
(a) Mr. Sasic acts individually or in his status as an EHCB executive director?
(b) Mr. Sasic’s involvement in any way to the OAKA stadium to the EHCB for their conference in 2025?
We expect your comments as soon as possible and in any case before the upcoming Board of Directors. “
The Euroleague administration in our questions did not give any substantial answer, reminding the past practices that we thought had gone irreversibly. “
