Olga Kefalogiannis: Meeting with South Korea Ambassador to strengthen tourism

The Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogiannisshe met with the South Korean ambassador to Greece, Ju-Sepong Lim, in view of her forthcoming visit to the country. South Korea is a target market for Greece, with the visit aiming to strengthen bilateral relations in the tourism sector.

The minister’s main objectives are to promote Greece as a tourist destination, increase tourist flows and promote business partnerships, especially in sustainable tourism investment. The Korean market is considered important because of its potential and the prospect of contributing to attracting quality tourism throughout the year.

Discussion on direct flights and special forms of tourism

During the meeting, trends in the tourist demand of the Koreans were discussed, with an emphasis on religious, cultural and gastronomic tourism. An important issue raised was the introduction of a direct airline connection between the two countries, which would make a decisive contribution to increasing tourist flows and boosting business relations.

Finally, Ms Kefalogiannis informed the ambassador that she intends to invite her newly appointed counterpart from Korea to visit Greece in order to sign a Memorandum of Tourism Cooperation.
