On the occasion of her World Wine Tourism Daywhich is celebrated today, Sunday November 9, the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianniemphasized the importance of this special form of tourism.
In her post, the minister said that this day “is an occasion to get to know them up close Greek wineriesthe wine producers and the Greek wine which is now distinguished internationally”.
Ms. Kefalogianni underlined that wine tourism uniquely connects production with tradition and rural life, enriching the travel experience. He emphasized, in fact, that it is a special form of tourism that can attract visitors throughout the year and develop into all the Greek Regions.
Institutionalization and new initiatives
The minister recalled that already from her previous term, in 2014, the government recognized its importance, for the first time establishing by law “Wine Tourism” as well as Visiting Winery badge.
Today, his promotion is set as “strategic priority» for the sustainable development of Greek tourism. In this context, the government has already introduced the National Council of Wine Tourismwhile promoting certifications for the relevant businesses and implementing projects to connect wine production and gastronomy with the tourism sector.
