Her Monday, October 27, 2025 the festive events for the national anniversary of October 28 in all the Elementary, Middle and High Schools of the country, outside the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
The day of celebration is considered normal school day and student participation is mandatory. According to the current ministerial decision:
“A student’s absence from the school’s celebratory anniversary events is considered an unjustified absence from the number of teaching hours provided for in the timetable on the day they take place”.

What applies to tutoring and foreign language centers
The educational activity outside of school it doesn’t change.
The secondary schools and the language centers they will work normally on Monday 27 Octoberwith their full schedule.
On the contrary, the Tuesday, October 28due to the national holiday, all educational structures will be closed.
Duration and schedule of events
The festive events for October 28 they will have a duration at least two teaching hours.
After the end of the celebration will follow the awards of excellence, awards and commendations to the students who distinguished themselves during the school year 2024–2025.
In schools Primary Educationthe duration of the event is determined by him/her director in collaboration with teachers association.
His students Full Day Program they participate normally in the events and leave with the rest of the students, according to the school’s instructions.
Special status for Thessaloniki
Because of his celebration patron Saint Demetrius on October 26his schools Municipality of Thessaloniki will hold their events on Friday, October 24, 2025.
On the contrary, the school units of other municipalities of the Metropolitan Unity of Thessaloniki (except the Municipality of Thessaloniki) will celebrate their holidays on Monday, October 27.
The student parades in Thessaloniki will be held on Monday, October 27while the Tuesday, October 28 will take place on military parade.

In all other municipalities of Greece, student parade will take place on Tuesday, October 28, 2025national anniversary day.
The exact hours and the venues will be announced by Ministry of Interiorwhile the school units will inform students and parents in time.
