Olympic bike lane of the OAKA is entering a new era, with the start of upgrading and maintenance finals, with a total budget of € 14 million, while paving the way for its conversion to a modern, multifunctional sports facility.
The Olympic Bike Tracks maintains its lead role in the sport of cycling and is at the same time shaped to host team sports, mainly handball, with appropriate technical adjustments.
Interventions include: repair, maintenance and waterproofing of the roof and wooden piste, budget of € 1.8 million, and restoring the static adequacy of the shelters, with a budget of EUR 11 million, and the energy upgrading of the installation, budget of EUR 1.2 million, has already been completed.
The projects begin next Monday (14.07.2025) and the bike will remain closed for about 8 months, with a completion of completion until Easter 2026. However, it was ensured that the smooth run of the Men’s Pan -Hellenic Championships and Women is not affected.
At the meeting held at the office of Deputy Minister of Sports, between Yiannis Broutsis, the President of the Hellenic Cycling Federation (EEA), Vassilis Diamantopoulos, the President of the Hellenic Federation of Greece, The interventions were presented in detail and the alternatives were discussed for the seamless continuation of racing and training activities during the projects.
The presidents of the two federations expressed their positive attitude and support to the ministry, emphasizing the necessity of the interventions and the prospect of their sports.
