North Korea: Threat to “uncontrolled conflict” after South Korea warning fire

The Korean Peninsula is again in tension. OR North Korea denounced on Saturday (23.08.2025) a ‘serious challenge’ South Koreawhich she accused of throwing more than ten machine guns against her soldiers. These warning fire took place on Tuesday, August 19, when North Korean soldiers crossed the demarcation zone for a while.

The incident happened while the new South Korean president, Lee Ja-Mung, is taking his first international tour in Japan and then in the United States. Elected in late June, he has promised to repeat the dialogue with North Korea, which has been technically in war with Seoul for over 70 years.

High -risk escalation

According to the official KCNA agency, North Korean soldiers were working to “permanently close” the land borders when the South Korean army opened fire with more than ten machine guns. Pyongyang described the episode as a “serious challenge” and warned that it would respond to any attempt to obstruct its actions.

The South Korean army confirmed that it had threw a warning fire, assuring that the North Korean soldiers had been withdrawn immediately. Seoul said she was watching the opponent’s moves closely.

Explosive

Interdisciplinary relations have been at their lowest point for years, as North Korea has proceeded with a series of ballistic missile launches defying UN sanctions. A similar incident had occurred in April when fifteen North Korean soldiers crossed the boundary line before receding after a warning fire.

The peninsula remains in high -intensity status: about 28,500 US troops are parked in South Korea, while Seoul is currently conducting common military gymnasiums with Washington against the nuclear threats of the North.
