Normally the air traffic in Britain after technical problems – delays in flights

The critical technical damage was restored that paralyzed aerial traffic in Britain on Wednesday afternoon (30.07.2025). However, the smooth flow has not been fully restored – passengers must be alert for possible delays or changes in their flight program.

From 5pm on Wednesday afternoon, local time (7 pm Greece), Britain’s airports, Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh and Stansted have issued updates that flights are starting to Britain again, while passengers are called upon to stay in touch with their companies about the latest updates.

The NATS confirmed that systems are operating normally and all flight departures have gradually restarted. The procedures are continued by cleaning the backlog (procedure for arranging and improving the work list so that it remains easy to use) safely and coordinate with airports and airlines.

Delays

Despite the recovery of systems, the situation has not been fully normalized:

British Airways operates in limited flow, 32 flights per hour to Heathrow, instead of the usual flow of 45/h, until 19:15.

The consequences of the interruption – widespread, cancellations, diversions – remain ongoing as flights try to recover from the backlog.

British Transport Minister Heidi Alexander assured that the system operates and urged passengers to confirm information with their air carrier
