“No” Tasula to Tsipras to disclose the practices of the Council of Political Leaders after the referendum

Negative is the response of the President of the Republic Konstantinou Tasoula In the request of the former prime minister Alexis Tsipras To release the minutes of the Council of Political Leaders of 6 July 2015.

The request was made by a letter to the President of the Republic, Mr Tsipras, in which he stated, inter alia, that it was imperative that the need to shed plenty of light on all aspects of the events of that period.

In his response to Mr Tsipras, the President of the Republic explicitly notes that “those in the Council of Political Leaders are secret, as they relate to serious national issues, which is why the minutes are not communicated to the Council’s participants”.

In detail, Mr. Tasoulas states in his answer:

‘Honorable Mr President,

With your letter today you ask me to release the minutes of the Council of Political Leaders of 6/7/2015, which was convened the day after the referendum.

As you know, the Council of Political Leaders is not provided in the Constitution. It is therefore an informal body whose meetings are held in the door in the presence of only minimal necessities of third parties (practicers).

The ones are confidential, as they relate to serious national issues, which is why the minutes are not communicated to the Council’s participants, but remain in the Presidency of the Republic.

The only publicity followed by a Council of Political Leaders is the common announcement issued. The same was true with the abolished Council of the Republic since 1986, whose minutes were also secret.

The same request as yours had recently been submitted by the President of the Freedom Freedom on 28/8/2024 and the response given on 30/9/2024 by the President of the Republic was negative for the same reasons I mentioned above.

I then think that these practices cannot be publicized. “
