Nikos Papandreou asks Christodoulakis to resign from PASOK’s organs

PASOK MEP Nikos Papandreou responded in a strong style to the recent statements by Nikos Christodoulakis, who implied that there was a “different way” from the country’s accession to the first memorandum in 2010.

Mr Papandreou described this position as “deprived of economic logic” and talked about a course that led the country to bankruptcy not “suddenly” but as a result Political and Management Errors of yearsattributing responsibilities to officials of previous governments.

The MEP responded to what the former Simitis government minister said, he said:

«Mr. Christoulakis’ view is lacking economic logic. Countries do not reach bankruptcy within months and unexpectedly. Unfortunately, bankruptcy was the result of many years of political and management failure. So those who have ruled are responsible for their actions and omissions, of their words as well as their silence.

The PASOK – In the view of much of the Greek society and certainly its voters and executives – made titanic attempt to rescue the economy from absolute collapse With all the tragic social consequences that this would have. This was done in a storm of political adventure and extreme populism, which certainly made the road longer and more painful for all our fellow citizens.

I do not know what Mr Christodoulakis is referring to when he chooses to refer to a “less painful road”. But if this is indeed his view, he should be allowed to develop it freely. At the same time, of course he should also give up party organs».
