Nikos Androulakis proposes a public invitation for the heads of the Independent Authorities

Procedure open invitation of interest, with a description of formal and substantive qualificationsThe PASOK president proposes to fill the vacancies of the Presidents of the Independent Authorities.

In a letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Nikita Kaklamanis, Nikos Androulakis estimates that in this way the conference of the Presidents of the House will be able to judge between worthy and with the relevant qualifications of candidates, While it will also be facilitated to achieve a broad consensus of political forces.

The letter Androulakis in detail:

‘Honorable Mr President,

The constitutional provision for an increased majority of the President’s conference, in order to select the heads of the Independent Authorities, imposes on the one hand, a broad consensus of the political forces, but on the other, this consent is based on high quality qualifications and guarantees of independence.

As a PASOK Movement for Change, we have repeatedly and in various ways expressed the view that in search of the best choices, it would be advisable to precede a public invitation to staff the Independent Authorities, so that the Conference of Presidents could be judged by the proceedings and the relevant qualifications.

To this end, I call on you, Mr President -even seeing the filling of the Presidents ‘vacancies in the constitutionally provided for independent authorities -after consulting at the Presidents’ Conference and a decision -, to open an open invitation to their interest and description of the formalities. They perform with effectiveness and credibility the purpose for which they were established. “
