This platform will be used as the basis of future Volvo models. The center is chaired by Mats Fogerhag, currently Vice President of Product Strategy at Volvo Cars.
“This particular center will guarantee the creation of the ideal base architecture for Volvo’s future small and medium models. In this way significant economies of scale are initially achieved, which in the process on the one hand are combined with maintaining the premium DNA of a prestigious European brand like Volvo…” said Fogerhaag.
The choice of Gothenburg to create the new Research and Development Center is not accidental, as it is very close to the existing research centers of the Swedish automotive industry. The place where the center will be built, the Lindholmen Science Park, has scientific and spatial links with the famous Chalmers University.
