New Cock: Over 3,000 violations were confirmed in the campaign for helmet use – which area is at the top of the list

Continued for seventh week Checks and informative actions of the Hellenic Police in the framework of the “Zero tolerance for Non -use helmet” campaign, with the aim of universal compliance of drivers and passengers, as well as EPIO users. (Light Personal Electric Vehicles).

It is recalled that, according to Guideline Operational Traffic Plan, Police officers from all traffic services, police departments and OEPTAs Throughout the country, they are carrying out strict scooters as well as two -wheeler rental businesses, with particular emphasis on professional distributors and their employers.

In particular, by the sixth week of application of the action (11/8/2025-17/08/2025) 27,873 checks were carried out, in which 2,613 violations were confirmed to drivers (of which 80 to distribution services), as well as 413 violations to passengers.

Indicatively, among the violations, 2,382 were two -wheeled drivers (of which 72 distributors), 389 two -wheeler passengers, 155 EPOE drivers and 75 drivers ATV (“pigs”).

More specifically, per region, the following offenses were confirmed:

-842 in Attica,
-382 in Central Greece,
-264 in the southern Aegean,
-248 in the Ionian Islands,
-242 in Crete,
-234 in Western Greece,
-217 in Thessaloniki,
-137 in the Peloponnese,
-134 in Central Macedonia,
-102 in Thessaly,
-86 in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,
-78 in the North Aegean,
-52 in Epirus and
-8 in Western Macedonia.

It is noted that, with the establishment of the new Road Traffic Code (Law 5209/2025), the state gives a clear message of zero tolerance to non -use of helmet, through the tightening of penalties as follows:

-350 euros fine and deduction of driving license for -30 days for the bicycle driver (the same penalties apply to the driver who does not ensure passenger safety).
-350 euros fine for the bicycles passenger.
-30 euro fine for the OPIO driver

The campaign It is not aimed at imposing sanctionsbut in changing the perception of drivers and passengers regarding the mandatory use of certified helmet as an elementary measure of life protection.

The Greek Police will continue to be on the streets daily, with a strong presence and consistency, in order to ensure the universal application of compulsory helmet use and to establish a more responsible driving behavior. The helmet is not just accessories – it is a responsibility that saves lives.
