Continued for 15th week The checks and informative actions of Greek police As part of the campaign ‘Zero tolerance to non -use of helmet’in order to Catholic Compliance with drivers and passengers of two -wheel drives, as well as OPIO users. (Light Personal Electric Vehicles).
It is recalled that, according to Guideline Operational Traffic Plan, Police officers from all traffic services, police departments and OEPTAs Throughout the country, they are carrying out strict scooters as well as two -wheeler rental businesses, with particular emphasis on professional distributors and their employers.
In particular, During the fifteenth week of application of the action (6/10/2025-12/10/2025) they took place -20.017- checks, in the context of which they were confirmed -1.532- violations to guides (from which -74- to workers in distribution services) as well as -217- Violations to passengers.
Indicatively, among the offenses, the -1.232- They concerned two -wheeled drivers (from whom -73- distributors), -204- two -wheeled passengers, -289- Guides OPIO and -11- ATV vehicles (“pigs”).
More specifically, per region, the following offenses were confirmed:
- -517- in Attica,
- -207- In the Ionian Islands,
- -195- in Crete,
- -165- In the South Aegean,
- -144- in Thessaly,
- -142- In Western Greece,
- -83- In Thessaloniki,
- -70- In Central Macedonia,
- -62- In Central Greece,
- -61- in the Peloponnese,
- -37- in Epirus,
- -34- In eastern Macedonia and Thrace,
- -25- in the northern Aegean and
- -7- in Western Macedonia.
It should be noted that, with the introduction of the new Road Traffic Code (Law 5209/2025), the state gives a clear message of zero tolerance to non -use of helmet, through the tightening of penalties as follows:
- -350-euro fine and deduction of driving license for -30 days for the guide Discs (the same penalties apply to the driver who does not ensure passenger safety).
- -350-euro fine for the passenger bicycles.
- -30-euro fine for the Guide to OPIE.
It is recalled that, in cases of relapse, the penalties increase significantly.
The campaign is not aimed at imposing sanctions, but to change the perception of drivers and passengers regarding the mandatory use of certified helmet as a basic measure of life protection.
The Greek Police will continue to be on the streets daily, with a strong presence and consistency, in order to ensure the universal application of compulsory helmet use and to establish a more responsible driving behavior.
The helmet is not just accessories – it is a responsibility that saves lives.
