Prisoners: ‘abandonment and indifference’
The administration of the Union of New Bodrum Prison Employees in an official announcement issued in the aftermath of the bloody incident is referring to abandonment and indifference.
“Another incident of violence with a victim of colleague has been recorded in the long list now in the country’s detention facilities and let’s not show such incidents as they should. Sometimes such an incident would be news and now tends to become a habit or something normal, without any particular consequences for the perpetrators.
Today, March 19, 2025, at the noon opening of the wing, two of our colleagues received an unnecessary and unexpected attack by a foreign prisoner with an improvised skewer, injuring one of the two workers on the neck and back. Our colleagues reacted immediately and professionally, locking the perpetrator in the cell and providing first aid to our wounded colleague until the ambulance came to pick him up.
The Board of Directors of the Association of Prison officials N. Bodrum Heraklion expresses to our colleague his full support and reserves for further action.
Abandonment and indifference. “
