The traffic accident that shocked the local community of Argolis on October 11, 2024, when the 37-year-old mother tragically died, was tried before the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals of Nafplion.
The two young men – driver and passenger – who were in the car that caused the accident, were treated with great severity by the court. The interest of the case, according to the lawyers of the two young men, is focused on the severity shown by the court to the passenger, who, although he could not prevent the course of the car, which was running at a dizzying speed, was sentenced to a heavy sentence without suspension.
The passenger was convicted as an accessory to the crime of dangerous driving resulting in death. This is the first time that Greece imposes a 15-year prison sentence on a passenger in a traffic accident.
The young man, even though he had a clean criminal record, was not granted a suspensive effect in the appeal, nor were mitigating factors recognized.
For its part, the family of the unfortunate 37-year-old spoke of an exemplary punishment, while declaring satisfaction with the court’s decision.
