“Happy birthday to my myrtle!

Today you close your 28 years! As you came to the world today and was one of the two happiest days of my life.

You may not live your life as I had imagined it, as every parent wants to see their child, but for me every day is full of your bright smile, your kind -hearted soul, and your love of love.

I feel that God helps you on this difficult path you are going through, full of soul pain, and honestly I don’t know how I would be in your place, if I could not speak, walk, enjoy life and years of youth, considering that I was born and I was born. So from one moment to another.

Over the years, your image has faded into my memory before, maybe because 13 years have passed, perhaps because the defense of the soul does not want to remember, does not want to tear, pain, and therefore covers it before a veil of fading.

Happy birthday to my smiling girl who every day you give me strength and courage to move on, to fight for you.

Happy birthday to my sweet creature that you are generously scattering so much love to every man who speaks to you by giving you a lot of kisses through your heart.

I don’t know how the angels are but for me they will look like this, so they will behave. I love you so much! “Martu’s mother wrote.

The time

All Greece was frozen in the summer of 2012 with the case of Myrtos. The girl found unconscious on the rocks a beach in Paros had a severe stone hit, weighing 5 pounds on her head.

The authorities had ordered to be taken as soon as possible at an Athens hospital to provide her with immediate care, while efforts to identify the perpetrator had begun.

Initially, police investigations were investigating the incident as an accident. However, shortly afterwards, forensic doctor Nikos Kalogrias announced that traces of genetic material were found in the girl’s body, resulting in the authorities restarting investigations.

The mother of a minor girl testified that she saw a man in white pants and colorful blouse moving away from the spot. A few days later a colleague of Ahmet Vakas said that on the day of the incident, Vakas was wearing clothes that fit the mother’s description.

Pakistani descent, Ahmet Vakas, had already left the island, as a relative was seriously ill. Vakas was later arrested in Athens, after a random police check due to DNA identification and was regarded as the culprit of the crime.

His arrest was made a few days later in Nea Chalkidona, where two more suspects were arrested. Police found him on a mobile phone, as well as with the help of other witnesses who worked with the police.

Then the DNA was identified again, which matched what was found in the clothes and body of the young girl. Vakas confessed his crime. According to him, he tried to steal Myrtu’s mobile phone, but she resisted. Then he hit her with a stone on his head, until she fell unconscious on the ground. As long as the girl was unable to defend her, he raped her, continuing the blows.

During the arrest, the perpetrator had planned a voluntary return to Pakistan.

Initially, Vakas had convinced the judges that he was a minor in order to be tried in a similar way. At first, he said he was born in 1991, and then in 1993, until he finally said he was born in 1995. This inaccuracy led the authorities to ask the Public Prosecutor’s Office to add these false statements to the trial.

However, he did not change his behavior and continued to lie, this was the result that he was initially imprisoned for two years. The perpetrator was sentenced to life imprisonment for robbery, 18 years for attempted homicide, 18 years for rape, and 3 months for illegal work.
