“Thanks to all the moms who helped us blossom,” says today Google’s doodle that is dedicated to Mother’s Day.
Today’s Google Doodle shows a blooming flower throwing its shine and “light” in two little buds ready to bloom explaining that it is a reference to the mother’s day.
Mother’s Day or Mother’s Day is celebrated on different days around the world, most commonly in March or May. In Greece and in many other countries, it is celebrated on the second Sunday of May. This year is May 11th.
The modern celebration was established in the 20th century in the United States and comes from the English and American movement of women. American Ann Jarvis first organized a movement named Mothers Friendships Day in 1865 and meetings named Mothers Day Meetings, in which mothers exchanged opinions and experiences.
In 1870, Julia Ward Hau organized an event of a peaceful gathering of mothers with the PEACE and Motherhood slogan with the aim of not being sent to the war.
