The revenues from the tourism in the period January – September 2025, registering a 9% increase compared to the corresponding period of 2024, according to data from the Bank of Greece (TtE).
This development, as reported by the Central Bank of Greece, reflects the increase in tourism traffic by 4%, as the number of tourists who visited our country reached 31.6 million.
In more detail, the travel traffic via airports recorded a 4.3% increase and travel traffic via road border posts also increased by 4.3%. During the period under review, travel traffic from EU-27 countries amounted to 18.8 million travelers, showing an increase of 0.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2024, while travel traffic from other countries increased by 9.3% to 12.7 million travelers. Travel traffic from euro area countries increased by 5.6%, while travel traffic from non-euro area EU-27 countries decreased by 8.1%.
In particular, travel traffic from Germany rose 8.2% and amounted to 4.8 million travelers, while travel traffic from France decreased by 0.6% and amounted to 1.8 million travelers. Rise by 7.1% was recorded by travel traffic from Italywhich amounted to 1.9 million travelers. In relation to the other countries, the travel traffic from the UK increased by 4.3% and formed in 4 million travelers, while she from the US increased by 5.6% to 1.2 million travelers. Finally, travel traffic from Russia increased to 20,500 travelers.
As for the tourist receiptstravel receipts recorded an increase of 9.0% compared to the corresponding period of 2024 and amounted to 20.1 billion. euro. This development is due both to the increase in receipts from residents of the EU-27 countries by 5.6%, which amounted to 10.9 billion euros, and to the rise in receipts from residents of other countries by 12.7%, which amounted to 8.1 billion euros. In more detail, receipts from residents of the euro area countries amounted to 8.4 billion euros, strengthened by 3.5%, while receipts from residents of the EU-27 countries outside the euro area increased by 13.3% and amounted to 2.56 billion euros.
In particular, the collections from Germany recorded a drop of 0.8% and the receipts amounted to 3.1 billion euros from France increased by 7.3% and 1.2 billion euros were formed, while receipts from Italy also showed an increase of 6.9%which amounted to 1.2 billion euros. From other countries, receipts from the United Kingdom were up 11.9%which amounted to 3 billion. euros, while the collections from the USA increased by 11.7% and amounted to 1.4 billion euros. Finally, receipts from Russia increased to 22.6 million euros.
