And it is also a great opportunity to correct a series of errors that exist in the main state registers, I would say from their recommendation, so that we are absolutely sure that all the elements concerning all Greek citizens are absolutely correct.
You have identified the process by which the personal number will be issued, which will now be listed on new identities. Let us also say that blue identities, as we know them, will soon be – and must be on the basis of a European directive – past. And in collaboration with the Ministry of Citizen Protection, we do our best to limit the waiting for the issuance of new identities.
The new identity itself is an important indication of the Greek state’s progress and we encourage all citizens as soon as possible to rush to publish it. And our job is to reduce the waiting times, especially in Athens and Thessaloniki, so that this process becomes as seamlessly as possible. “
The government says that the use of the personal number will facilitate the exchange of data between different public services, improving cooperation and efficiency, while allowing the creation of expensive and reliable statistics.
Personal number will be granted through Gov.gr’s Myinfo application, where citizens will be able to form part of their personal number themselves. At the same time, citizens will be able to make the necessary confirmations of their personal information and request corrections in the event of deviations to be consistent with the information registered in the citizen register.
The platform is expected to start operating in early June.
