Mitsotakis in Tiktok for ATMs: When the rules are not adhered to, we intervene – see video

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke of “a window that they found to charge the citizens” in a video statement in Tiktok, announcing immediate government intervention to protect consumers.

As he said, “Last December we established rules to limit excessive bank charges, but some found a window and continued to charge citizens.” He even emphasized that this phenomenon is “ends here”, confirming the government’s intention to close the relevant regulatory gap.

At the heart of the intervention is an amendment that the government directly brings, with the aim of resetting the supply of cash withdrawal from all ATMs belonging to the DIAS interbank system, as well as from third -party machinery with equity connection with banks. At the same time, clear limits for charges by independent providers are established.

“Banking services must serve citizens, they should not burden him unjustly,” the prime minister said, sending a message of strict supervision to the financial sector.
