I start immediately with the disposal of the new resources that emerged from the positive performance of the national economy. The additional revenue, which exceeded our original forecasts, are directing them where they belong to society. So, starting this year, every November the state will return to tenants a full rent. Also from this year and every year, 1.5 million low -income, uninsured elders and people with disabilities will receive 250 euros net. While at the same time we increase the Public Investment Program by $ 500 million a year, with the aim of quickly pursuing projects that the country needs, support actions with a social footprint and continue to create new jobs.
As I have said before, the government’s goal is to make collective progress to gradually turn into individual prospects. And because many were said by the opposition about “surplus”, consciously or ignorant, I also clarify here that the new resources did not arise from increasing the tax burdens of citizens, but from dynamic development, tackling tax evasion and a number of other structural measures. After all, it is a fact that our government has reduced more than 72 taxes and contributions. The logic of our economic policy is to create the fiscal space first and then to return it to society, without risking the stability we have had.
A larger fiscal space will also provide us with the implementation of the escape clause for defense spending, based on the decision of the European Council of last March -a Greek proposal accepted.
