Prime Minister’s meeting with the European Commissioner for the climate, Bobe Hukesta
Meeting with the Commissioner for the climate, the zero balance of broadcasting and pure growth, the prime minister had Hukkra in the morning Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the Maximus Mansion. During the meeting, issues of competence of the Commissioner’s portfolio were examined, with an emphasis on EU climate commitments along with the economic growth and support of European industry competitiveness.
The prime minister stressed that Greece is on a good track of EU goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as that our country has a balanced energy mix, with increased penetration of the RESwhile making special reference to the use of gas transitional.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis pointed out the issue of energy market distortions, which leads to large divergences in electricity prices among EU countries. He emphasized that such distortions were not understood in a single market, reiterated the importance of interconnections between states of the European Member States.
Issues relating to the European tax framework were also discussed and the importance of the EU’s economic growth, strategic autonomy and internal convergence of the EU.
At the start of their meeting, the Prime Minister and the Commissioner had the following dialogue:
Kyriakos Mitsotakis: “You have a very wide portfolio and there are many issues to be discussed. I realize that you already had productive meetings with the relevant ministers, but it is always my pleasure to see you. I was thinking that days like this, when it has sunshine, it has normal wind and energy consumption has not reached high in the summer, we produce a significant part of our energy, we cover a significant part of our energy needs from renewable sources. As you know, we are at the forefront of the green transition.
Of course, we are also interested in ensuring that the green transition will take place in a way that does not undermine the competitiveness of the European and the Greek economy, in particular the industrial base. So we will have a lot to discuss, always with the look at the future. It is always good that when we meet representatives of European institutions we are no longer talking about the past, but about the future, because in the discussions that were in the past have dominated other issues that are rather painful. But now, our agenda has a very proactive and positive approach.
We also want to contribute to the broader sense in the European debate. These are very complex issues, the ones you deal with. We are here to support the agenda. “

I can really praise what the government and the country have achieved in the field of economy, really very impressive, but also in its connection to pure growth and climate.
