Mr Mitsotakis also referred to Greece’s crucial role in the energy sector, not only as a country of potential natural gas production – with references to ExxonMobil and Chevron’s research south of Crete – but mainly as a world leader in LNG shipping.
“We may be clean gas importers, but there is no reason not to investigate the possibility of exploiting our own deposits in the medium term. In addition, we control 25% of the global LNG fleet – so we play an important role in global energy supply, “the prime minister said.
