The Prime Minister visited the Paiania Olympic Facilities, which operate again after 15 years, visited the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The prime minister talked to the athletes of the track and the fencing of the sports band, toured the premises by Konstantinos Chalioris, Coordinator – General Manager of the OAKA, and was informed of the extensive renovation projects that have been implemented to be provided with Associations.
“It was a big bet for our government from the outset to utilize facilities built and on the occasion of the Olympics, which unfortunately had been abandoned over time and had fallen into full depreciation.
Today I am here, in this very beautiful multi -sport center in Paiania, with two iconic closed facilities. One to host the indoor track, but also various hall sports, and here, this indoor stadium, where you see young people and young people who deal with the very beautiful fencing sport of being very happy because they finally got their permanent “home”.
Sport support requires investment in sports infrastructure. With methodical and interventions across the country, the ministry is moving in this direction. And for us the greatest joy and greatest satisfaction are the smiles of young athletes and young athletes who can now be athletic in conditions that are worthy of their expectations, “the prime minister said.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to visit the venues and coaches as well as the facilities that meet the needs of athletes (medical office, restaurant, hostels), and watched videos that capture the image of the facilities before and after their renovation.
The Paiania Olympic facilities, according to a statement, train 30-40 high performance athletes of the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) daily and about 70 athletes from the Paiania Gymnastics Association. Also, daily workouts are carried out by about 40 international athletes from the Hellenic Fencing Federation and another 30 from the local clubs.
The operating costs of the Paiania Olympic facilities reach 2.5 million euros annually, while the amount of the investment, much of which was covered by Lamda Development, exceeds € 8 million.
