At a meeting with representatives of Local Government and the bodies of Lemnos and Ai Stratis, the Prime Minister chaired Kyriakos Mitsotakis, During his visit to Myrina at noon.
At the start of the meeting, the prime minister noted: “Mrs. Mayor and Mr. Mayor, Dear Babi, I am very pleased to be in Lemnos once again. I come today to visit you then some of the important announcements we made inThe Thessaloniki International Exhibitionobviously about your island.
The question of VAT and her injurious that existed between Lemn, Strati and her Lesvos is now treated drastically, with the equation of the lower VAT rates for all its islands Northern and his South Aegean with a population of under 20,000 inhabitants.
And, of course, I find it important to the initiative we have taken, which concerns the whole territory, to reset within two years ENFIA For all settlements under 1,500 inhabitants, which concerns the whole island of Lemnos – with the exception of Myrina – and all Ai Stratis.
But obviously, our support cannot be exhausted in a series of horizontal measures. Every time we come with the Minister and the Deputy Minister, we want to deal with the particularities of each place.
Lemnos is an island that is essentially in a transition. Very dependent, and rightly, on the primary sector, I think, I think, the first steps in highlighting it as a different tourist destination. I believe very much in the possibility of both Lemnos and Ai Stratis to be able to attract quality tourism, but I think the “game” will be judged precisely on a tourism with rules, so that the island does not lose its very special character.
For the primary sector we had the opportunity to discuss extensively in our previous meetings: the importance we give to the work of the reforestation, which is already being launched, the need to protect water resources, but also to face immediate needs of livestock farming, compensation that must be given for feed.
I was raised by the veterinarian issue and I had the opportunity to contact, coming here, with the leader GEFEH And to ask him – and he pledged to do so immediately – to have a military veterinarian in Lemnos, who will come immediately to meet the needs of the island until the call for a long time is “chasing”, which generally concerns veterinarians. A need for the primary sector as a whole throughout the country.
So, know that we are always here with our ears openly to support the local community. For us – and I say it even more about Ai Stratis, Mayor – there are no second and first -class citizens. We want citizens wherever they are, from the most remote island of the Aegean to the most mountainous village, they feel that they have the same opportunities for access to the same quality education, health services. We still have steps to take in this direction.
And of course, to say, ending that first and foremost we want our Akritis in the northeast Aegean to feel safe. They have every reason to feel that. A Greece, which is strong, promotes its rights with confidence, constantly strengthens its armed forces, which are also identified with this region.
So, at this wavelength we will continue and look forward to discussing the issues we have on our agenda in greater detail. “
“Lemnos is an island in a growth track,” the island’s mayor said
For its part, the mayor of Lemnos Eleonora Georga He emphasized: “We thank the Prime Minister who is with us.
OR Lemn It is an island really on a growth track. We are doing great, important work, systematically, and the municipality, in general the self -government, the private sector.
There is a strong investment activity and interest, the main body of our economy is the primary sector, which we must support in every way. We will say, and in particular, at the meeting.
And of course, there is a shift towards tourism, which we are working on, self -government and together with tourism operators, and we need to put a tourism with rules there, because we do not want Lemnos to lose its particular characteristics and identity.
And as you have seen, on your way to the central market, all foreign visitors tourists told you that it is something unique, they said the word “unique” and visit and visit.
We want to maintain this unique, but to bring it in the market, terms of growth, to keep new families here, to remain young people, so that there can be fertile ground for activity.
There are many issues that we have to deal with – we will say afterwards – and which we have to “run”, because on the one hand we have to face all the needs of everyday life, which are dozens, but also meet all these requirements of development, which comes and should prevent it and not.
The Mayor of Agios Efstratios spoke about the demographic and primary sector
The Mayor of St. Efstratios Constantine Sinanis He said: “The host is the colleague today, but we also welcome you here, at the headquarters of the Lemnos Regional Unity, of which we are a place, as His Eminence is used to say,” the other ‘lungs’ of this regional unity. “
As I said, I was the primary sector The basic pillar of development and survival of our islands. Livestock and fishing are two main areas that must be supported. We must be able to motivate people to stay, to be able to keep children and, if possible, to be able to continue on the islands.
Mr President, you realize that the biggest problem in the islands of the northern and northeast Aegean is the Demographic. It is an issue that we put on the table now, in the foreword we make, and I think there are ideas and suggestions that we want to hear and include them in the broader plan to combat this problem and to be able to find a solution together. “
Earlier, the prime minister visited the fully renovated Archaeological Museum of Lemnos, where was guided by the boss of Ephorate of Antiquities of Lesvos Pavlos Triantafyllidis. The renovated museum was inaugurated on August 2, and adopting a modern museological approach and digital applications offers a “vibrant” narrative for the culture and history of Lemnos, from prehistoric to Roman period.
Then the Kyriakos Mitsotakis walked to her market Myrina where he had the opportunity to talk to businessmen and residents, and also visited the Elderly Care Unit of Lemnos “The Good Samaritan”.
