Mitsotakis by the Ministry of Education: Anyone who refuses to be evaluated in the principle has no place in the public education system

Proposals are being exposed to reduce matter, the prime minister said

The Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports visited the Prime Minister in the morning Kyriakos Mitsotakiswhere he was presented at a meeting on the government’s priorities in the field of education.

During the meeting, among other things, significant interventions in education were discussed, with an emphasis on primary and secondary education, as well as issues related to teachers evaluation, students’ career orientation and the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in public education.

The course of the implementation of the Marietta Giannakou program to upgrade the infrastructure of over 600 schools, as well as the government’s policies to tackle school bullying, were also examined. The importance of continuing the appointments of permanent teachers was also emphasized, based on the government’s decision to proceed with 10,000 new appointments.

After the meeting the Prime Minister made the following statement:

“First of all, I wish to wish good luck and good power in the new leadership of the Ministry of Education, to the Minister, to the two deputy ministers.

We had the opportunity today to do a comprehensive overview of the course of the interventions we do in primary and secondary education and one, I would say, the evaluation of the progress we have achieved in recent years, as well as the important challenges we are still called upon to face.

I certainly believe that the picture in our schools is very different and is improved, considering that since 2019 we have added 39,000 permanent teachers to our strength, considering that significant interventions have been made, such as two -stroke pre -school education, English in kindergarten.

I stand in particular at the 36,000 interactive tables that have already been placed in our schools, funded by the recovery fund, very useful tools such as robotics kits, which allow our schools to bring our children into contact with modern technology, but mostly more interesting, more interesting, more interesting.

Also to refer to the policies we have undertaken for the bullyingthe stop-bullying platform that has already given some first measurable results. But also the significant reinforcement in the types of schools that enable us to differentiate education according to the possibilities and guidelines of the ministry: the schools, the experimental schools and, of course, the public nomination schools.

We will have exams next weekend, an important innovation with the funding of the Onassis Foundation for a new type of public school, from which we really expect many useful lessons on how we can “overall” the operation of our schools.

Let me also highlight the important initiative, the “Marietta Giannakou” program, to upgrade over 600 schools. The first of them will be delivered to students and teachers in September of this year. Therefore, there are many that have been done and many more that must be done, Mrs. Minister.

We discussed the course of teachers’ assessment and I think here we have to be honest that it is a new process, which has not yet brought the expected results. And here I want to be very clear, especially for the category of those teachers who refuse to be evaluated in principle. Our position here is clear and the direction I have given to the ministry very clear: if one refuses to be evaluated in principle, it should not have a position in the public education system.

I believe we should deal more – and we discussed it with the Minister – with the timetable, with the quality and the amount of matter. I was pleased to hear that proposals are being examined by the Institute of Education Policy for a reasonable decline in matter, so as to put more emphasis on quality rather than quantity.

We have discussed an issue that I believe is concerned with all parents and all the children who have to do with career orientation and how we can help children, possibly at a younger age, in the 3rd grade of the Gymnasium may be the right time, to identify their slopes, their skills and skills.

And, of course, we also discussed how we can use new artificial intelligence tools to support the work of teachers, to rid them of bureaucratic work and enable them to focus on their basic object, which is their teaching and teaching.

His experiment Tutorial – I want to congratulate all those who worked for this important initiative- seems to have succeeded, with tens of thousands of students exploiting it. Especially the children of the 3rd High School, who will start taking nationwide exams on May 30, now have access to free quality material, which can help them prepare them.

In closing I want, and on the occasion of my visit, to wish good luck to all the children who will compete in the Pan -Hellenic Exams and to assure everyone that all public free education and especially our schools are at the forefront of our priorities, because as the Minister said, the Minister said.

And all children need to know, no matter where they are in the country, no matter what financial capacity their families have, that they can have access to themselves and equal opportunities. And if they work they will be able to have a school on their side that can support them and make their own dreams and their parents’ dreams. “

Minister of Education, Religions and Sports Sofia Zacharakis said:

“We are welcoming you to the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sport today, together with the Deputy Minister, Mr. Broutsis, along with the two deputy ministers, Mr. Vlasi, Nikos Papaioannou, and of course our Secretaries -General, to talk about you. How we can give more prospects through education.

We know it is the “elevator”, it is the only way to give children equal opportunities wherever they are born, all over Greece. And I think we focused on that.

Today we only talked about primary and secondary, general, special and vocational education. We have emphasized mainly the good preparation of the year, valuing how we have gone through these years. We have also emphasized the addition of a very significant number of permanent staff, how much we have met our needs with deputies, which we thank them for meeting the needs of public schools, as well as the great innovations that have been implemented in recent years.

Within these, we must not forget the additions that the new year will bring us – more specific references to the Prime Minister – about new -type schools, the standards, the experimental, the Onassis, and the improvements that have nothing to do with infrastructure, Schools of our country.

Thank you very much for your present presence and we are really seeking a constant collaboration on what has to do with the future of our children. “
