Mitsotakis: “By 2027 the image of public transport will be completely different”

The message that the need to upgrade the domestic rail network from Athens to Thessaloniki by the most modern media, but also to make it safe, was emitted to his intervention at a wide -ranging meeting under his chairmanship at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitimos.

«We have to move faster, this is what citizens require from us» The prime minister said, reiterating that the government must continue its conflict with the timeless pathogens of the deep state. Indeed, Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that in early April there would be a comprehensive presentation of new interventions in the field of public transport, stressing characteristically that «By 2027 the image of public transport will be completely different».

In particular, Mr. Mitsotakis talked about the addition of new buses, as well as the intake of new drivers, the promoted upgrading to the metro line 1 trains, as well as the interventions on the Metro 2 and 3 lines.

The prime minister announced that the new road traffic code would soon be voted on, however, stating that this in itself cannot resolve the safety problem on the roads, and that a comprehensive reassessment is needed.

In addition, Mr. Mitsotakis also updated the timetables for the completion of important infrastructure projects by 2027. Specifically, Mr Mitsotakis said that a significant portion of BOAK should have been delivered by the end of 2027, while in 2025 the road should have been completed, but the road was completed. Subsequently, in 2026 the E65 should have been delivered and by 2027 the Flyover in Thessaloniki.
