Mitsotakis: A topic for me to have other ways of delivering such drugs – Visiting the beneficiary of the program at home delivery

The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited last Wednesday the home of a beneficiary of the CAT program, delivery home High Cost Drugs (FYK).

Specifically, he visited the house of John, one of the “thousands of citizens served by the new high -cost -cost home program”, according to a government announcement issued today.

“It is a new initiative, very important compared to what was happening in the past,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed, adding: “It was a matter of principle for me to be able to have other ways of delivering such drugs, especially in patients who should not be suffering. And of course, the more they receive them at home or tomorrow and from their pharmacies, the tails will be smaller because one can choose – for their own reasons – to go and pick up the medicine from the pharmacy. “

Through the program, which has been fully implemented by EOPYY in mid -June, there are now about 10,000 home traditions per month, with more than 83,000 traditions of preparations, including missions to the Region.

It should be noted that the service is provided free of charge, serving patients with chronic diseases and difficulty moving, who no longer need to suffer to take medication necessary for their health. In the near future, it will be expanded to surrender to a pharmacy in the beneficiary’s neighborhood.

Yiannis, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, explained to Kyriakos Mitsotakis the positive impact of the program on his life, as he is no longer obliged to suffer every month due to the transition to a pharmacy of EOPYY and waiting for his treatment, which has upgraded his quality of life.

The importance of transplants, with his sister John, was also emphasized, who also suffers from cystic fibrosis, stressing that “we did not have lung transplants in Greece before 2020”.

“We see slowly but steadily increasing the numbers of transplants in Greece. We were on the bottom of the bottom, as you may remember. But I think the donation of the instruments has become much more socially acceptable. This, of course, wants a constant support from the state. Not only general education but also when, the non -born, there is a brain death that doctors can know how to talk to the family, in his environment, so that they can make this difficult but saving decision, “the prime minister said.

“We will also have the opportunity to inaugurate the Transplant Center in Onassios. It is practically ready, they will inaugurate, we are planning them within the next two months and this is another important contribution of the Onassis Foundation, “Kyriakos Mitsotakis added.

The free home delivery program covers both medicines that are maintained at room temperature and cold chain preparations (refrigerator), which are transferred to special secure packages. The service is easily activated through the EOPYY platform. Beneficiaries only need an electronic recipe and intangible opinion.
