The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met at his headquarters UN In New York with the Secretary General of the Organization, Antonio Guterrespresent and Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis.
During the meeting, Greece’s priorities were discussed during its tenure at the UN Security Council (2025-2026) and international and regional developments.
The latest developments were still discussed at Cyprus. The prime minister welcomed the efforts of the Secretary -General to restart and maintain talks on the Cyprus issue.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the re -appointment of María Angela Holguín Cuéllar as a personal envoy to the Secretary General for the Cyprus issue and thanked Mr. Guterres for his services.
The latest regional developments were also discussed, with the emphasis on the situation in Gaza, as well as developments in Syria and Lebanon. The prime minister emphasized that the immediate truce in Gaza, the protection of civilians and the initiative in this direction is needed.
