The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and the Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis They held a meeting at the 80th UN General Assembly.
At the end of the meeting, a public announcement was issued with which the two leaders reiterate that Greece and Cyprus are fully committed to the work of implementing the electrical interconnection.
Specifically, the announcement states:
“During the meeting the excellent bilateral relations were reaffirmed while President Christodoulides briefed the Greek Prime Minister on the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union and discussed the themes that will be held at the forthcoming Greek Government Council.
In relation to the Greece-Cyprus electric interconnection project, they reiterated that the two governments remain completely committed to the implementation of this project of strategic importance, as well as the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council who are fully aware of the project.
The President of the Republic briefed the Greek Prime Minister on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, and in particular on a joint meeting with the Turkish Cypriot leader to be held under the UN Secretary -General on September 27. “
