Mitsotaki – Abbas Contact: They discussed developments in Gaza and West Bank

The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had a telephone contact with the president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas.

During the communication, the latest developments in Gaza and the West Bank were discussed. The prime minister expressed his deep concern about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and stressed that any expansion of hostilities is unacceptable. In addition, it conveyed Greece’s position on the need for seamless flow of humanitarian aid, immediate ceasefire and unconditional release of all hostages.

At the same time, it emphasized the need to resume the political process aimed at resolving the two states, which would coexist peacefully and safely.

Finally, he reiterated Greece’s support for the Palestinian Authority as the only legalized representative of the Palestinian people, as well as the readiness of Greece to take further humanitarian initiatives.
