Suspension of the accreditation of the Terra Certe Credit Body for the organic sector, for a period of six months, and the National Accreditation Council then decided, as announced.
The history of the case is as follows: During the 521st meeting of the National Accreditation Council, held on Monday, August 11, 2025, the representatives of the “Terra Cert SA were heard. D.T. ‘Terra Cert’ ‘regarding findings found and on the basis of which the failure of accreditation regulations, following an emergency inspection of the USSR, which took place on 28 and 29/7/2025.
It is noted that the relevant meeting, originally scheduled for 7/8/2025, was postponed, at the request of the body, for 11/8/2025.
On 11/08/2025, the body submitted a new request for postponement of the meeting as well as a relevant memorandum accompanied by additional data. The meeting was held and heard by the representatives of the body, but the decision of the members of the National Council was set at a new meeting in order to have time to examine the data submitted by the body. The new meeting was set for Tuesday, August 12, 2025
In this context and taking into account the report delivered by the Head of Evaluator, the recommendation of the ESYD Bodies’ Ecclesiastical Directorate, as well as the views raised and the documents provided by the certification body “Terra Cert SA. D.T. “Terra Cert”, “members of the National Council unanimously decided to suspend the accreditation of no. Certificate 1332-1, (B3/3), for the sector of organic products, for a period of six months, and to carry out a new evaluation after the expiry of the relevant period of suspension, in order to re-examine whether the non-compliance and the reasons for the suspension of the accusation (10365) have been lifted.
This decision was taken on the basis of the preservation of the credibility of accreditation as the accredited body was deemed to have violated the claims of the accreditation regulations, and in particular the paragraphs referred to in its non -compliance with the requirements of these and the relevant criteria specified by the ESY.
Following the foregoing, the 522nd meeting of the National Council was ratified unanimously, on 12/8/2025, during its 228th session, the Board of Directors of the ESYD on 12/8/2025. (Session 228 of the Board of Directors of ESYD, BoD decision/4625/25).
In this context, and upon the briefing of the body, it is noted that the validity of the decision begins from 12/8/2025.
It should be noted that the certifications issued by this entity to date maintain their validity.
